    Cars audio systems

    Anyone have any knowledge on this? I know salesmen will try and get me ripped off. I want to get a system in my '96 ford ranger . I am really limited on space for a sub. Is getting an 8" subwoofer even worth it, I don't want to blow the car next to me away, but want to be able to feel the music.

    Heck I really don't even care that much about a sub, I really need new speakers though. If I turn my radio up it just sounds like complete garbage, and there is absolutely no bass.

    I will need a new deck to, I don't think the cassette player will do me alot of good, I would need one of those plugins for an MP3 player.

    Honestly, get at least a 10"...I used to have a 10" Kicker CVR, they have a really shallow mounting depth and hit pretty hard.

      I have two of these: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/s...&productId=146

      Cheap but very good (just read some of the reviews on their forum). Good, tight bass that doesn't sacrifice loudness for sound quality.

      If you need a good amp then this is a good deal: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/s...&productId=155

      For speakers, just get two components for the front, no need to waste money for the rear.

          I don't even have room to put anything in the back. I will take a pic in a second

          Under $110 for just 2 new speakers and cd player/mp3 hookup. $150 with a sub. More if it's not even worth doing it for that cheap. I am trying to pull this for the 18th birthday.

            So you're looking to get 2 speakers for the cab, a cd player and a sub for $150?

                Amp=200+
                CD Player=200 for a decent one

                  Yeah, if you want a decent sound system, it's gonna cost you. You should also spend about $250 on front speakers because IMO, they are the most important component of a sound system.

                  I spent around $900 for my sound system and it's decent at best.

                    150=Sub

                      Ya... I think I am just gonna be cheap and get some $50-$75 front speakers and a basic cd player. Anything will be better than what I have in there now

                        LOL, exactly. I remember going to car audio forums and asking people to suggest good sound systems for less then $1000. Pretty much everyone there laughed at me and told me to spend at least $1500. Car audio is just too damn expensive.

                          Compared to what? $20,000+ RCA cables? That 103" Panasonic Plasma that's around $60,000?

                          If you guys think $1500 is expensive, you would probably die if you knew the money I had in mine.

                              Yes, and everyone on OS is 500 pounds, lives in their parents basement, and play video games 18 hours out of each day.
