Those are pretty decent subs for the price. I've installed 5 or 6 of them and haven't seen one person that's been unhappy after the install.

Do they still make CD/MP3 players with tape decks? I'm looking to get one of those iTrips or w.e they are called. When I get my ride I'm tryin to get a nice *** sound system. I better start saving.

If you guys think $1500 is expensive, you would probably die if you knew the money I had in mine.
I spent $1500 on my HDTV and $50 on cables. I also spent almost $1000 on my car sound system. I use my HDTV alot more then I use my system.

Also, I know what you mean. I was saying that $1500 was the bare minimum that I was told to spend to get a decent system. Some people told me to spend $2500+. There's no way that I would spend more money on my sound system then I would my HDTV. Plus, i'm a college student so i'm not exactly rolling in cash.

Just get a Alpine deck with one of those high-speed ipod cables. They cost about $250 but are well worth it. Much better then FM Transmitters and iTrips.

You can build a nice system for $1000 bucks easy. You just buy stuff used besides the speakers. I bought alpine 1000 watt amp and alpine deck used and saved a ton. I bought my alpine type x 10" for 200 as well as type x tweets and backs for 200 also. I have a race car so i didn't want to put more weight than a 10 in there but a type x is like 2 10's its so powerful.

But you don't have to go that route, you can get much cheaper good speakers like alpine type r's which are under a 100 bucks. As you can see I'm an alpine fan becasue I prefer sharp hits of bass more than thumpin.

I went to ikesound.com and they are cheapest on the net and are very reliable.

I love somewhat powerful powerful bass like you would get with a subwoofer on your TV sound system. Would alpine type speaker offer that? I'm tryin to stay on the cheap-but-good side.

Sorry to bring this thread back, but I'm gonna be looking for a decent head unit soon. I just need one for CDs/MP3s/FM/AM and something for my zune/ipod to play through the speakers. Any suggestions on where and what to buy?

                      Pioneer DEH-P6000UB

I've got that in my Suburban and my younger brother has one in his Tahoe and another in his Caprice. My baby brother has my older model in his Jeep. It's a great radio and will do everything that you mention. The nice thing about this model as opposed to the previous model is that it has an alphabet search with the iPod integration. Instead of having to scroll through all of your albums, you can hit the list button again and the alphabet selection box will come up. Once you select your alphabet, your albums list goes directly to albums beginning with that letter. I absolutely love it and got it from Wal-Mart for $266 and change...tax included.

                      Hope that helps.

Sounds good to me. I may get one used though to save a few bucks.
