    anyone coach T-Ball?

Debating wether I want to coach my son's T-Ball team. This is for 4 year olds so they don't keep score as the kids really can't field.

I'll be coaching again this year. 7 year old girls (coach pitch). My daughter enjoys me coaching her, and honestly man. It's a real treat to take 12 kids, and teach them the game. We made some good strides last year with the 6 year olds. I'd go for it Heel, I think you'll really enjoy it.

I dont have a kid but I coach a coaches pitch team. I missed baseball and that is why I got into it.

I could never imagine trying to teach some kids younger than the ones I coach, on how to play baseball. It is hard to get across to them now on some things because I have to say it in a way that they would understand. And the kids I coach are 6 to 8, I think. I understand it is for fun but you still have to teach them some basic fundementals.

I dont know you and your kids relationship but from what I have seen a lot of fathers take their off the field relationship on the field and it does not turn out too well. The biggest thing is to not play favorites or be unrealistically hard on him. That ballance some never find.

All I can say is Good LUCK!

I did the 7-8 thing 2 years ago. It's fun, but be sure to keep your expectations really, really low.

          1. Most (if not all) of your kids will not be able to perform basic functions. We were lucky to get one ball fielded and have a completed throw to first a game.

          2. Especially at 4, not a single kid will have an attention span longer than "let's play in the dirt". For practice (assuming you have a 12 kid team), have no less than 2 assistant coaches and keep the groups at 3-4 kids. Otherwise, it's dirt pile time.

          3. You will lose all faith in adults. If you're a sadistic ****, you can pretty much have any player score on any contact with the ball. Other than your first baseman, nobody on the team will have any ability to catch the ball. For the most part, the coaches had the unspoken agreement that unless a team is getting pummeled, you don't do the "score at will" approach. But damned if the yellow team didn't pull all kinds of shananigans. Plus, if it's your first year, you'll probably get ****ed with player distribution. I ended up with the 5 youngest kids in the league (the huge difference between 6 and 8, this is huge), 2 eight year olds, and all but 3 had never played before.

yeah, I don't expect much out of them. They basically hit the ball and every other hit is an inside the park home run. I am definitley going to be an assistant coach at minimum. I know they need some head coaches though.

Roger McDowell coaches T-ball...but only every fifth day...when #47 is on the mound!

I coached a t-ball team while in college, there were one or two kids that pretty much would go after every ball and make the plays. The other ones played in the dirt or just stared at their shoes.

T-ball at our league is basically every kid hits in an inning and pretty much just take one base at a time.

                    Haha...so true.

I coached a hockey team of 9-10 year olds two years ago. Since I was 16 and the convenor figured I'd suck at coaching, he actually did the opposite and gave me all these good players. Unfortunately for him, I don't suck and I don't like telling my players not to score, so we won our first five games by a combined score of 74-3. Which then meant that there was mass balancing and they took away all my good players and I came in last

                    Stupid league.
