I download (steal) music all the time but I don't have a big problem with this.

How does the RIAA catch people? I am curious of this, I thought it was illegal for cable company's to divulge what information was being sent through the internet connections of its customers.

And if the answer is the RIAA is putting the music out their themselves and tracking IP's isnt that extremely shady?

Whats to stop someone from walking around, stealing wi-fi connections using a torrent program to download 100's of songs?

I dont see how you could be proven liable in court for downloading anything if you have a decent lawyer.

Because people are still dumb enough to use torrents or p2p systems to get music, which is very easy to track. At least with p2p you can turn off sharing and keep them from suing you but with torrents that's pretty much impossible as far as I know. The other thing is that people don't secure their wireless connections so they have people downloading music with their IP's visible so they get in trouble even if they didn't download anything. As far as the cable companies, I think the RIAA have filed some kind of motion to get names turned over. They do the same thing with schools and I know that there's a group of OSU students who are suing the school for turning over everyone's information.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)
