Just purchased a HDTV.

After you guys' help and input and I went today and bought a 42" Insignia. I was looking at the Vizio's and they were priced rather nicely at WalMart for $848.88. There are two WalMart's in my area, the first one didn't have in stock so I went to the second one but the price there was marked $996.88 and they said they wouldn't match the price. I was disappointed because I wanted that TV. Since they refused to match the price I decided to go across the street to Best Buy.

They had a deal on Insignia's. Again, the 42" I wanted wasn't in stock, but they said they'd sell me the display but I told them the only way I'd purchase it was if they'd give me a discount on it, considering it was the display model and they did. It was priced at $990.99 and they cut 10% off of it and granted all the warranties and stuff.

I'm satisfied I suppose. I just can't wait for Direct TV to get out here and hook up the HD on it because right now it's bland, but I know that'll improve once they hook it up to HD. Now I'm looking at a Blu Ray player, but I think I'm gonna go with a PS3, that way I'll have the best of both worlds.

Anyways, I just wanted to thank all of you guys for your help and thanks for taking time to help me out. I really appreciate it.

Enjoy the TV. I only have a 32" Westinghouse. Still love it, changed the way I at least viewed video games.

Yeah I have everything hooked up and just played a game of MLB 2K7 on it with my 360 but I'm using composite cables and it looks like crap. Someone suggested that I buy component cables and I ordered some off of ebay so I'm waiting for those to arrive. Is the component cables the right route I should be taking?

Once you have those cables you'll be in HD heaven. You'll never be able to play on SD again.

My brother's set up is with a medium sized SD and I cant even play for 5 minutes before driving home to play, hahaha.

Haha! I can't wait! I have a house on my own, which is where I put this TV in the living room, but seeing as how I stay at my folks house from time to time I am thinking of buying another to put in my room there, haha.

By the way, how do I know if my 360 has HDMI or not? I'm pretty sure it does.

Also, are those cables I purchased the right ones? I have the link to them in a few posts up.

Look on the back and it should have a slot labeled hdmi (my ps3 did so I'd imagine that 360 is the same)

you can connect through composite but the picture won't be nearly as good as if you were to connect through HDMI

On the back of your 360you got your ethernet wire, a/c source and a/v out. I theres a fourth port you have hdmi.

When did you buy your 360/is it an elite?

I bought it last summer. I'm pretty sure it has an HDMI port. If HDMI is the best route, then I'll go ahead and order the HDMI cable.

If it does...Order a cable from monoprices.com they have the cable you need for less than 5 dollars + plus shipping.

Yes it does have an HDMI port. Where my component cables plug in, it's right under there. I went to monoprice.com and typed in "X-Box 360 HDMI cable" and it brought up alot, so I'm a bit confused as to the exact ones I need.

I noticed the 360 uses HDMI 1.2 so be sure you dont use a HDMI 1.3 cable.
