A humorous note on MASH is that the TV show ran alot longer than the actual war did.

The finale was huge and greatly anticipated. The most memorable episode I saw was when Col Henry Blake's plane crashed on his way home (The US) resulting in his death.

The MASH finale was huge in the same way the Seinfeld one was...just 10x more so. As an actual even though, it can't come close to "Who Shot J.R." on DALLAS. In fact, the summer between the finale and the start of the next season is dubbed by many DALLAS fans and non fans alike as "The Endless Summer".

that was nuts.. just saw a show where they had about 5-6 cast members take the role as the "shooter" just to make sure nothing was leaked

Yeah....it was probably the most popular show not only then, but when it ran in syndicated re-runs. Personally, once Trapper John, Col. Blake and Frank left the show it really struggled to maintain its' appeal. It lost the connection with the spirit of the movie. So, if you've never seen the movie with Elliot Gould.....check it out. It's hilarious.

TRIVIA Q: (for those who have NOT seen the movie). Who do think was the only actor to be in both the original movie and the TV series? (honor system applies )

                      They had TV back then?

                      Was it black and white?

Someone made a good point. They do the ratings by TV"s right? I mean how many people watch the game with 8 people plus...some places have huge crowds, bars having 50 people etc...

MASH was not the same... so while more tv viewers, doesn't mean more people watched MASH more than the Super Bowl.

Point is... there are crowds of 200-300 people at ceratin places watching I am sure there were not crowds like that to watch MASH.

                          Yes, you are correct.

                          Gary Burgoff was the actor.

Perfect finale to what, IMO, is still the best series of all time. There have been other shows that have matched its quality, or its longevity, but not both.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I'm pretty sure that those places don't have 200-300 people huddled around one TV.
