Re: Official : Heath Ledger's death an 'accident'...
Please don't tell me what I do and do not know about drug abuse when you know absolutely nothing about me, my life, my family, my relatives and the **** that has gone on with the aforementioned people. Thank you very much. I, and probably many others on this board, keep most of our personal lives off of OS for a reason, and I'm going to keep it that way. But please do not jump to assumptions about what I do or don't know about drug abuse when, again, you know nothing about my family and my life.
Prescription drugs are just as addictive as "street drugs," I know that. But there is still a distinct difference between taking drugs prescribed to you by a doctor for well known reasons (he was very depressed, he was having a lot of trouble sleeping, etc) and snorting coke or injecting heroine to get high. If you don't see the difference in how those two are different...there's absolutely nothing I can say.
And there isn't really any point to even have this conversation in this thread, or any other thread here. It won't lead anywhere good...so I'll just say RIP, it's a very, very sad thing for me as a big fan of Ledger to see that his death was accidental and not suicide. Very sad indeed. At least his daughter can grow up knowing her father didn't purposely take his own life.Comment

So, if I don't see the difference naturally, there's no way I can learn it if you explain yourself? Is this something I should have just learned naturally while growing up, like reading? Something that can't be explained? Why is there nothing you can say?
And on the same note about me making assumptions, don't go making assumptions about other posters, like FF and me. Thanks.Listen to some of my covers:

Re: Official : Heath Ledger's death an 'accident'...
Pain medicine is the new thing to do. As of lately we've been seeing a ton of teens and young 20's folk addicted to Roxy, Percs, Tabs, Xanex, even Adderall. They are selling them at high school for $3-5 a pop.
It's ridiculous how pills are handed out by doctors these days like candy. Can't sleep...here ya go. Feel stressed...here ya go. Your back hurts...here ya go. There are no safety plans either because since there is no database if one doctor says no, you can always doctor shop and get what you need.
A few more years and it will be a huge epidemic. Right now Meth is the big thing...I can easily see pills surpassing it soon. Too easily accessible, they are cheap, and they don't have the stigma that hardcore narcotics carry.- The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.Comment

Coke, heroin, etc... are all the same as prescription drugs. All of your "street drugs" have medicinal uses, just as prescription drugs do. Both can be abused to get "high." Oxycontin and Xanax are generally used for this very reason, and unless I missed it, he didn't seem to have a concrete reason to use painkillers.
So, if I don't see the difference naturally, there's no way I can learn it if you explain yourself? Is this something I should have just learned naturally while growing up, like reading? Something that can't be explained? Why is there nothing you can say?

Cocaine was also used as a headache relief medicine most notably in the original formula for Coca-Cola when it was used interestingly enough as a medicinal drink.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Man, that's really sad.
Also, I know people are allowed to express their opinions and all but why do you still have to push it that Heath Ledger was doing this for 'recreation' or whatever? He has no past history of doing so and by this time, we most probably never will know. Can't we all just pay respect to the man and move on?
he does have a past history of drug abuse. He was in rehab for heroin. He is on video snorting coke.

“Mr Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine,” said Ellen Borakove, spokeswoman for the New York medical examiner.
These drugs are the generic names for anti-anxiety drugs Valium and Xanax, painkiller OxyContin, and sleeping pills Restoril and Unisom.Comment
