The only problem I see with it is Vista. I like Vista fine, but on 1 gig of RAM? Nuh-uh.

How much RAM would be needed to run Vista well?

3GB minimum...and I am still jumping through hoops getting it to speed up, network connections stuff, etc. I have 3gb RAM and a 4GB USB readyboost stick for more memory. Machine is still slow...

I thought you needed the extra RAM for Vista Premium. For Basic isn't 1GB enough, or would you need to upgrade?

This is fairly similar to my wife's laptop, except hers has a AthlonX2 processor. We have had it now for about 7 months and its been great.

I would recommend upgrading the RAM......if you are trying to run any graphic intense programs, it will chug @ 1GB.

1GB of RAM is plenty for Vista Basic. Maybe I've been lucky or something. :-/

I'm running 2 gigs, and it runs really well for me on my laptop.

2 gigs is recommended, i've read there's not much performance difference from 2 gig to 3 gig.

I've been running my laptop on 2gb or RAM and Vista Ultimate. It runs very well.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)
