Of course not, that is the whole point of DNS, so all of us don't have to remember the IP addresses of every website on the internet.

True...just don't know if the old router had it set through the admin...I'll look when I get home, but I could swear that though the Linksys admin I could set specific DNS servers.

Also might be worth checking out the network settings on the PC. I know I've hardcoded them before when the cable internet was screwing up...otherwise I couldn't resolve a damn thing, so it's possible.

I just wonder what was on the old router because obviously it was performing correctly and the new one isn't...did it have settings that fixed this problem? That's just where I'd look, odds are the cable company will tell you to plug your pc into the cable modem directly and it'll be fine.

I'd recommend even trying that if possible, and if you're having a problem still it's either the windows network settings or the cable company.

So I was just messing around in my network settings (which I never touch on my PC) and I changed my DNS settings from using the preferred DNS server, which has been there forever, to have it so that it obtains it automatically.

So far it seems to have rectified the problem, and hopefully itll keep up.

I bet you know a loopback IP address and your home router's IP address.

Screw DNS! It's all about 75.126.153.96.
