Yeah the fact they showed this on television makes me assume it was a hoax. Sad thing is this isn't even an original hoax, the Wizards did the same thing a few years ago.
Unless they added that commentary after it happened this is clearly fake.

He probably kinda knew that she may not be too interested in marrying him, so he gambled by putting her on the spot, in front of 20,000 people, hoping that would be enough pressure to force her to say yes. At least he got a pity tab on the shoulder by a cheerleader as he walked off.
I smell something fishy. Her body language wasn't right. Like when she waved her hands, kinda like a stage actor trying to sell it to the people way in the back. I believe if that was a true situation, she would have at least given the guy a big hug, and then walked off the court with him to save them both some embarassement.
