computer issue i didn't notice until now

I got a flat panel monitor awhile back, but only now noticed that when I start up the cpu, the monitor stays off until windows actually boots. This is a noticeable problem now, since I need to view my bios to change some settings, but my monitor will not turn on or acknowledge a signal until windows boots up. I even got into the bios, as windows didn't boot up when I held F1 at bootup.

So I can't see my bios. Any general reason why this would be, or will I have to dig around in some manufacturer specific information? I didn't have this problem with my CRT monitor, which I no longer have. Maybe it's the resolution?

This happens on a computer at my work because it has a graphics card that doesn't display the boot-up stuff on the computer for some reason. I can't offer any advice, I'm just letting you know that's why one of the computers at work is doing the same thing as what you are describing.

Not sure why it acts like this, but I think u can press F5 or F8 early when the comp starts and it will show u everything.
      My Specs:

      ZX Spectrum
      CPU: Z80 @ 3.5 MHz
      GPU: Monochrome display
      RAM: 48 KB
      OS: Sinclair BASIC

it appears it's just a problem with the startup screen resolution. It'll work fine with a CRT monitor, since they can be forced into any resolution really. Since I upgraded to a LCD monitor, I never bothered to change any of those settings for the bios. Windows runs fine once my computer boots, which is what it should be doing.

Doesn't seem like I can do anything about it either unless I find a CRT somewhere. I can press F1, F5, F8, Ctrl, anything, and I just can't see it. Windows isn't the problem. It's running fine rightn ow, as I really need to get into the bios.

still have an onboard video card with this computer. So when I upgraded to my nvidia card, I neglected to switch the bios setting to it. All I did was plug my monitor into the onboard video card port on the back of my computer and I could see it.

I needed to do it to reinstall XP, which runs lightning fast now.
