    Damn you Candyman!

I just ordered the Ocean's set from Amazon.

    I'm gonna stop now.

I've got bids out on EBay for the following movies...

    American Gangster
    Beowulf
The other 2 Harry Potter movies I don't have yet (Sorcerer's Stone and Order of Phoenix)
    Army of Darkness
    Excalibur

If all of these go through...I will have picked up 12 movies for 130 bucks. You can't beat that.

Oh yes I agree, I have saved my CC GC from xmas, I just received some Best Buy Rewards certificates the other day from when my dad bought his new TV about 2 months ago, and my FYE credit to help fund the next 2-3 weeks of HD DVD and BD releases. Kind of crazy, but had to plan for this. LOL!

Re: **Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread Part II**

I own "AC/DC: Live at Donington" on DVD. And I love it. But I wasn't intending to repurchase it on Blu-Ray. Until I read this.

                    The Audio: Rating the Sound

This is where 'Live in Donington' really kicks ***. This uncompressed PCM 5.1 Surround track (48kHz/24-bit) is a whopper. It delivers everything you want from an AC/DC live recording -- stomping bass, excellent fidelity, and ear-piercing highs on the vocals. (Note there are also PCM 2.0 Stereo and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround options, but the PCM 5.1 track is the way to go.)

The audio has been clearly remixed, producing excellent isolation of the instruments to specific channels. 'Live in Donington' has the palpable quality of the best concert soundtracks, making you feel as though you’re sitting in a great seat smack in the middle of the show floor. Attenuation of sound, timbre, and fidelity is top-notch, and ambient crowd noise is perfectly dispersed around the soundfield (the sing-alongs are particularly exciting).

Thankfully, dynamic range is also not overbearing, with the high-end never cracking or sounding too brittle or harsh (quite an achievement considering the fact that Brian Johnson's vocals could makes a dog’s ears bleed. Low bass is also fantastic, with the subwoofer kicking in right from the opening strains of "Thunderstruck." The source elements have also been nicely cleaned up, with no noticeable variances in audio volume or other imperfections. This is a first-class, five-star soundtrack all the way.

                    :
                    Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.
Dash: [muttering] Which is another way of saying no one is.

Yep, same here. I've gone back and forth on what I wanted to do with my HD DVD's, but I'm convinced there are quite a few movies out there on HD right now that will never show up on Bluray due to little or no demand, so I figure I might as well clean up now while I can.

I bought 4 movies this morning and then also got a $20 refund on some purchases from earlier in the month. Today I'm off to Best Buy to get my $10 refund on American Gangster.

I am fixing to spend sooooo much money.

*UPDATE* Just did. I bought 16 movies, with free shipping, for a grand total of 191.70.

                              I got....

                              Friday Night Lights
                              Serenity
                              The Mummy
                              The Mummy Returns
                              The Jerk
                              Spartacus
                              The Last Starfighter
                              Field of Dreams
                              Streets of Fire
                              Army of Darkness
                              Ray
                              Chronicles of Riddick
                              Casino
                              The Game
                              Mystery Men
                              Cinderella Man

That is an insane amount of High Definition Goodness for less than 200 bucks. I may go back and pick up 5 or 6 more actually.

So...to put this in perspective, over the last month and a half I've picked up close to FIFTY movies on HD DVD for a grand total of about 500 bucks. That's it. What would 50 Blu Rays cost me right now?

Tell me again how stupid I am keeping my HD DVD players?
