I picked up Shaun of the Dead, plus Top Gun for 12 bucks and The Untouchables for 12 bucks.

I'm also definitely thinking of getting 1 or 2 New A-30 1080p players at around 80 bucks apiece to keep in reserve in the future. I would basically have an infinite lifespan for my "dead technology" with 2 brand new players as backups.

I'll probably pick up a Playstation 3 in the next few months for the start of my Blu Ray collection, but I am absolutely CLEANING UP in the HD DVD department right now.

lol..yeah yeah yeah.

Again, I find it hilarious folks think picking up movies that are the EXACT SAME QUALITY AS A BLU RAY for literally 30% the cost is a dumb move.

I plan on getting a Blu Ray player soon, but hell...if folks are willing to dump High Definition versions of the Mission Impossible movies, Bourne trilogy, Harry Potter, Ocean's series, etc. for 10 bucks a piece...I'm more than willing to take them off their hands.

Hell...the average Blu Ray disc is what? 30 bucks? A player is between 400 and 900? depending on what you get.

I now have a library of around 60 HD DVD titles. At an average of about 12 bucks a piece that's about 720 dollars I've spent in movies. My players that I have...an XBox add on I got on Ebay for 70 dollars, and an A-2 player I got for 98 bucks at Wal Mart in November. So...roughly, I've spent 900 bucks total for a High Definition player and 60 High Definition movies.

Now...say I buy a Blu Ray player for roughly..eh...let's go middle of the road and say 500 bucks. Let's say I also start getting Blu Rays at around 25 bucks apiece so that would be 16 movies and 1 Blu Ray player for the same amount.

So...2 players and 60 movies OR...

I could sell it off and go with Blu Ray and have 1 player and 16 movies.

Like I said...I'll get a Blu Ray eventually, but good lord...why do I want to dump a GREAT library of movies in 1080p High Definition for that?!

I don't think what Auburn is doing wrong, especially when the same movies that we are buying on HD DVD cost more on SD-DVD. So you either buy the SD-DVD version which is compressed and low quality all around or pay less and get the superior version. I don't care, I'm format neutral and if I find some good deals I will pick up the movies on HD DVD that aren't available on Blu-ray......I'm a movie enthusiast.

DAMN, Casino Royale looks amazing in Blu Ray! Definitely one of the best PQ's i've seen, in my opinion of course. The foot chase at the beginning looked incredible.

Had a question. Are there any plans on HBO's part to release shows like Deadwood and Rome on Blu Ray anytime soon? Or better yet, Band Of Brothers? I would wet myself if any of these were announced on Blu Ray, despite the absurd price that would be charged.

Also, is there a website with future Blu Ray releases listed? I've been wondering when some movies, mainly Gladiator, would ever be released.

I can only imagine how beautiful Casino Royale looks in hi-def since simply upscaling the SD-DVD looks amazing - definitely one of the first BR-DVDs I am going to pick up whenever an inexpensive SAL player comes out (other than the PS3).

Totally. When I saw it at BestBuy my mouth dropped. I thought it was one of those demos for a second but it was the PS3 playing the special features or something.

I dont Rome or Deadwood will ever be released on Bluray now that they are no longer in production. Band of Brothers is available on HD DVD through import but not on Bluray.

Here is a link to release dates for US releases on Blu-Ray. The Band of Brothers series was actually released on HD-DVD overseas but it appears next to impossible to find anymore, hopefully it comes to BR as that series was one of the best if not the best I have ever seen.

By the way Gladiator isnt even rumored to be released in the US on BR but I did notice that Shawshank Redemption is finally slated for a release on November 4th.
