Has anybody seen Revolutionary Road? I'm not gonna miss out on Taken and the Wrestler at under $15 a pop and have RR on my wishlist as well, but not sure about it.

No clue about Revolutionary Road but I pulled the trigger on The Wrestler and Any Given Sunday. Some sites have Curious Case of Benjamin Button listed as a must own, but doesn't look like my type of flick.
I may end up getting Taken. It hasn't been that cheap EVER. Hovering around $19-22 for the longest.Comment

Yeah, Taken has been sitting between 21-25 on AMZ since its release so 15 bucks is a steal. Benjamin Button didn't interest me when it came out so I don't think I will blind buy it unless somebody feels the need to suggest it, but $15 but a Criterion Collection film is practically a steal. No clue about Revolutionary Road but I pulled the trigger on The Wrestler and Any Given Sunday. Welcome Members and Friends to the Blu-Ray Picture Quality Thread. "Oculi plus vident quam oculus." - "Several eyes see more than only one." THE PQ TIER LISTS HAVE BEEN MOVED TO THIS THREAD: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1168342
For me personally, I would pick TDK, Band of Brothers, or Casino Royale.Last edited by Fresh Tendrils; 07-28-2009, 11:30 PM.

Do you want to include sound, too?
I don't know if you don't mind showing off an animation movie, but show off anything from Pixar and you're bound to impress.
If not that, definitely show the opening chase sequence in Casino Royale (if you want sound as well) or Live Free or Die Hard (tunnel sequence has impressive sound with LFE's and the jet/freeway scene is good demo material). King Kong is nice if not a bit soft but the CGI stands out very much.
Otherwise, find an IMAX sequence from The Dark Knight, preferably the Gotham chase scene. Only problem is you don't get to see any boasted super whites since it's a night scene so the contrast isn't enhanced/emphasized in any way, but it really sounds glorious and the truck flip is just insane.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

LOTR extended edition coming next year.
There has to be an "ultimate" edition in the works, I would think.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

There must be. I'm not going to run out and purchase the LOTR Blu ray when another edition will probably come out within a year.http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=3180

This years its the theatrical edition. Next year the extended editions. I'm assuming 12-18 months later will come an edition with both cuts of the movies.

Re: **Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread Part II**
Thanks for all the tips guys.
I have 300 that i borrowed off a friend and while it does look good the picture is kind of grainy and doesn't really have that wow factor. The best looking movie i've seen on my setup so far is a standard dvd of Diehard 4 which looks pretty good but i want to hire a few movies to really see how good the picture quality can be on my 55' Sammy full HD LED.Comment
