Alright you networking experts (re: router issues)

I'm having major router problems and not sure what is causing it. I know I'm getting a good internet signal because I can connect when I'm connected straight from the modem to my laptop. But when I try to connect from the modem to the wireless router or even try to go wired through my router, I can get 'local access' only. I've tried resetting the router numerous times and nothing is working, I'm only getting local access.

Anybody out there have any ideas? Fish is gonna help me tonight when he gets online but while I'm waiting, I figured I would give this a shot

A screenshot of your router config screen will help out a little faster. What ISP? Is it DSL? Does it require PPPoE (a username and password)?

    thanks

It's the Linksys 54g router that is very popular (or was). Can't get a shot of the router config screen because I can't get any connection at all while through the router. ISP is Comcast, hi speed, not DSL.

Well it wouldn't last night, but I just spent about an hour on a chat with a rep from Linksys and he somehow got everything straightened out. It only took 1 hour, 2 laptops and 3 wires...

              Curious too.

I hope you didn't have to just update your firmware.
