However, I had took no advanced classes or any extra tests I could've taken.

Point is...people who complain about lowering acadmeic standards must really have no clue what they really are.

Maurice Stovall got into ND...enough said.
I know how Notre Dame works with their admissions with athletes and that is why it disgusts me when anyone mentions how they have academic restrictions that other schools don't have to face. That simply isn't true for their football team.

But I think ND does have higher standards than other schools, not as high as a general population, but higher than most schools. Can anyone provide minimum ACT/SAT scores for D1 schools?

I'm pretty sure Notre Dame is in the Miami category where the school sets it's minimum SATs up about 20 points just so it can say the school has higher standards. Enough to distance itself from the unwashed public school dullards, but not enough to actually impact recruiting.

However, I believe Stanford is in with Rice, SMU, and Vandy where the athletes have to go through the regular admission process (or at least an academic screening).

Notre Dame DOES have higher standards for athletes at Notre Dame.

We had .2-.3 higher GPA requirements to be eligible to play...it's actually pretty substantial. Also, we had a maximum nubmer of days of class we could miss...which was terrible for traveling purposes in the spring. Of course we missed more days...but honestly you can't not go to some of the classes there...the size is way too small...trust me, I tried.

For athletes getting in...I think the standards are higher...but not by as much as the media says. For instance the alumni complaining about the standards to get better players is ridiculous...they just need to recruit better.

With the incoming class it appears they have.
