Personally I think Magic Potion runs together too much and one of the reasons is that none of the songs are immediate, memorable or very catchy - they just don't grab you. When you're listening, its all very good, but once the music stops, nothing was left spinning in my head. With A&R, half of the album runs through my head during school, work - basically whenever I'm not listening to it. So, I think A&R has the Black Keys back in the catchy song department.

Re: The Black Keys - Attack & Release
I don't think the songs on Attack & Release are really that catchy(although "Strange Times" does have an infectious single-vibe to it). I think they really stand out because of how different each song is from the next on the album. Great track sequencing, the songs never get stale because they always follow a slow track with a fast, or heavy-garage blues track. I think Magic Potion was good, but, as you said, the songs really ran together. The variety on this album make the songs standout more, even though I'd say they really aren't that catchy.Comment
