    "The White Shadow"

Any1 remember the TV show "The White Shadow"? I liked it a lot! It's from 1978 and it was so good! The coach was great and had chrisma, and those guys were funny despite being poor and having tough life.

I thought it was because he was Italian. Yeah that was a good show. Coolidge was the man. I remember him being the only one that could dunk!

Yeah, Coolidge was a beast. I used to wait for his dunks. I liked that 70's atmosphere, it's something that just doesn't exists anymore. Too bad.

                Re: "The White Shadow"

The White Shadow was basically the 70's "Friday Night Lights". Looking back on the basketball action, it was kind of lame, but the relationships and social situations was what it was all about. I think the one actor's name was Kevin Hooks? I went to basketball camp with him one year. I remember the buzz around the camp was that he and his little brother were childhood actors. I think his little brother was in a commercial I saw once, but that's all I remember that they did.

And who knew that Coach would move on to better things.....like being the predecessor to Michael Scott!!

Seems like there were only 27 episodes...too bad. I wish it was aired here again. I watched it for the first time in the 1990's and used to wait for it.

How was this on 3 seasons and only had 27 episodes?

I used to watch this on ESPN Classic for a while, oddly enough I only learned of its existence when I came home and my mother was watching it.

When in doubt, Wikipedia it out:

I love this show, it's got that 70's "After School Special" vibe where there's a hamfisted 'lesson' wedged into the plot...

I also love when they try to make Reeves a 'ladies man'...he straight up sux at portraying that...

They play reruns on the Yankees YES network...

                        Lots of fun...

OK, on wikipedia it says 54 episodes, though on IMDB it was said that Ken Howard (funny he was called Ken on the show too) starred in 27 episodes, and I couldn't find more than that.

Seems way more like 54 to me, b/c some of the players were around for 2-3 'seasons' and then 'graduated' and then there was a final seaon w/ some new guys...

I bought the first season on DVD, have to get around to buying season 2 soon. Sportsguy references this show often and he claims the downswing after season 2 is dramatic.
