A Night Of Jail And Injustice

While on my way to work Thursday Night, I was stopped by the police for a broken taillight. They did a check and found that I had two warrants out on me for unpaid speeding tickets dating back to 2002 (which I PAID!!). They cuffed me,fingerprinted me, herded me around like cattle through the various stations which included several hours wait in a "pit of nastiness" with some rather unsavory characters. I got there at 11:15 PM and was finally released at 4:30 in the morning. All the cops treated me like dog sh!t, and on top of that I have to appear in court Monday morning because the system still has me not paying those tickets. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Not really Jay, but I must say that your experience and some of my personal experiences with cops are the reasons that I think most cops are pricks. While there are some good cops who will treat you with respect and dignity, some guys think that a badge gives them a reason to be jerks to everyone they meet. It was the same way when I was in the military, you give a guy a cammo uniform and he gets his first muscle from doing his pushups, and he thinks he's a badass that can mouth off to any one and be a jerk. My motto is that I'm nice until they start being jerks, and once that happens then I become a jerk myself. This is not the most mature thing to do, but it makes me feel better to be a thorn in their side when they are being rude to me. I know that in their line of work they deal with a lot of unsavory characters, but they should ALWAYS be respectful to people until people are not respectful to them.

I was arrested once for being drunk and disorderly. The cops do treat you like your less than human (being drunk and cussing at them doesnt help:o)but I guess they have to because jail aint supposed to be fun. And if they treat people too nice you will have alot of fools in there that will try and take advantage of it.

I hated being in that freaking holding cell, I had to sleep on the rock hard floor because they were all out of mats because it was so crowded. I remember having to take a piss and there was some guys passed out with their heads right next to the toilet, lol....I was thinking...I hope to God I dont miss.

Nothing worse than waking up with a hangover and a killer headache and looking around and realizing....Damnit, I'm in Jail!!!

It sucked being on probation because I would have to take a drug test every month and some dude would watch you through a window while you pissed in a cup.

I lost a little of my pride after that whole experience.

Do you have proof of payment? If not, you are screwed.

I didn't. All my paper records were lost because after Katrina (hurricane) I put them in a plastic kitchen bag and while staying with my brother his wife inadvertently threw them away with the trash. Fortunately, after a two hour wait in the courthouse today the disposition of the two speeding tickets was found. I had hired a lawyer to take care of the matter because I received tickets within 6 weeks of each other in Sept 2002 and October 2002, so I sought any help I could get in reducing the charges so my insurance rates wouldn't skyrocket. My lawyer got both cases dismissed and I had to pay $25 for the seat belt violation. For this I paid him $250. My problem was I couldn't remember which lawyer I used until after the fact. Things turned out OK in the end but I'm still pissed about the inconvenience.

Glad things worked out for you. But that really pisses me off, that the legal system messes up and doesn't record your payment and you get punished for it. Nothing is done to them.

Side note, if you ever EVER notice a taillight or other light out, get it fixed ASAP. You don't want to give people a legit reason to stop you...

I was already in jail... I freaked out when they locked me up and started flushing the toilet in my cell and banging out 4 1 1 on the phone in the cell. A cop started yelling at me and I thought it was another prisoner, so I started yelling back. Then they opened my cell door and there were four cops, I walked towards them with my hands up in the air and got tazered in the chest. I immediately dropped to the floor and **** myself (seriously).

Actually the light wasn't out. About 1/3 of the red cover was missing.
