Mio GPS Nav Systems

Anyone have any experience with these? I'm in the market for one soon... and I simply love the Garmin systems.

With new Mio Moov 310 announced for the States (hits here April 1st!) and priced at only $249, I think I've found my new toy.

Anyone have any experience with these compared to Garmin?

I have the C310x. Works fine. Sometimes the routing can be a bit off, but it'll always take you to where you need to go. Routing and re-routing is fast, plenty of options, and Mio's are known to be fairly easily hackable (http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/f...sp?FORUM_ID=37) so you can put on your own skins to show the information that you want on there.

Ultimately, I think the Garmins are overall better units (routing, re-routing, stability, customer service), but you're also paying premiums for it.

How are the POI's with the Mio's? I love how well the Garmins work... I can easily type in Pizza and get a large numbers of places to choose from... select one.. .and it re-routes me pretty seamlessly.

How do you input information? Via a keyboard or some other method?

There were several million POI's before the most recent map update. Due to increased map data, they sacrificed the number of POI's by 1/3, which sucks. I don't know what the number will be for the Moov though.

The sequence you have to go through is to first type in the city (after a few letters, it'll give you the options of which state you want), then street, then number. That's the long way if you know the exact address.

If you want a "best buy", you can just type "best buy" and search from 'closest to current location' or some pre-set location (like you're house). and you'll be given the option to find the route from your current position.

The third way is to type in "pizza" or "hamburger" and it'll give you a listing of places around you for that type of POI.

Pretty much, the same way a Garmin works, but I think Garmins come with more POI's.
