    mp3 player recommendations?

anyone have any recommendations for a nice mp3 player? I just want one to have for my workouts, so it has to be small. I had an ipod shuffle until it decided to completely piss me off. It worked fine until I reinstalled xp, and then it wouldn't work with itunes, regardless of version, then I restored it with apples program, and now it says I can't read or write to the ipod. I've voiced frustration with it in the ipod thread, but it's dead now. I don't really want another apple product, but if I have to I will. Itunes just seems like a **** program.

I just want a small, simple mp3 player that works like it's supposed to when I go workout.

BK, why don't you go with another Flash based mp3 player man. I had an 80gb Zune and their 4 and 8gb flash players have had some good reviews over at http://www.zunerama.com or http://www.zunescene.com. I was happy with it, but wanted some of the iPod features.

yeah I'm fine with flash players, as I'd want something small to workout with. I'm not a fan of itunes so I'm looking for a different brand.

I'll look at the zune, and I've also been looking at some of the sandisk models. They've got a tiny model that's only like $60 for 2 gigs, which is cheaper than the new shuffle 2 gig model. There's even a 4 gig model for $10 more than the new 2 gig ipod shuffle. It also has a OLED screen. Looks interesting.

I would advise you to stay away from the Sansa Express, as I have one and it frustrates me to no end. I have heard good things about the Sansa Clip though so you might want to try that out.

yeah, the sansa clip is the one I'm talking about. Just from looking around so far, it seems that sandisk puts out a couple of good ones.

While I haven't owned this model in particular, I've always liked Creative products. Their new flash based zen player comes in sizes between 2 - 32gb's. http://us.creative.com/products/prod...&product=16999

Maybe a little bigger than you are going for but I thought I'd throw it out there.

Sony doesn't make the Bean anymore, but if you could find one on Ebay it is the way to go in my opinion. The battery life is absolutely insane, and the sound is incredible for such a small investment. I use this as my primary mp3 player while exercising, but I use my 80gb ipod when I'm chilling.

I love my Vision M, but after the LCD screen burned and cracked from the inside and they refused to fix it under warranty, I don't think I will ever buy another product from them. I found out that it happened to a lot of people on the internet for no reason, they just turned it on and the screen was burnt and broken. I basically got the guy on the phone to say you cannot touch the player, apply pressure to it, etc or it will void the warranty if the LCD breaks. He even told me I shouldn't keep it in my jeans pocket because that could be too much pressure. I did finally get them to fix it for a reduced price, but it was a hassle for what should have clearly been a warranty issue when there was nothing wrong with the outside of the player, just the back of the LCD on the inside was broke.

Just get a little cheap Sandisk one, they're small, come with a strap to go around your arm if you dont want to throw it in your pocket, and the ones I've used don't need that craphole iTunes, you just plug it in and throw what you want in the audio folder.
