I read the book a few years ago and saw the cheesy documentary on whatever cable channel it was on. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

The movie is awesome.

I thought it would be a bit over the top by looks of some of the previews, but it was really good.

Don't expect any great character development but it's a very good early summer popcorn movie.

Any reviews/input from people who have seen a lot of the Discovery type shows they've had over the years about the MIT blackjack people?

Is the movie still cool/enjoyable and hopefully not going too over the top? Usually when they take a real story and make a movie you find that 90% was improvised and it takes a little away from it.

Saw it last night. Forgot to post though.

Good movie, I recommend people seeing it just for Kevin Spacey. A few clichés thrown in the mix that people will catch on (for the better, I suppose), and the chronology/pace flowed well as well. Good soundtrack, good Vegas vibe, and good weight of comedic relief. Some look-alike actors (one guy sort of looks like a mix of Jack Black and Jonah Hill while this other guy looks like Bob Ley, and the main character is a mix of Ryan Merriman/Tom Cruise/Ashton Kutcher), and Laurence Fishburne, though gaining more and more weight with each movie, was enjoyable as well.

This movie lacked a bit of tension, though. Not only that, but there are times where one feels like they can be put in the main character's shoes and say they would have done what the character did... this didn't always happen in this movie.

Anyway, good flick.

Pretty routine unspectacular stuff.Perhaps I've seen too many "Beating Vegas" type shows that were far more interesting then this. Had they had a little more character development and a more intricate plot, this might have worked.

Spacey starts out as likable, but when he finds out he's out $200K his true colors are revealed. At that point he becomes a second rate villain.

You do realize this is based off a true story, correct, so the plot not being that "intricate" is history's fault, not the movie's.

According to the reviews (as I have not seen the movie), the real story is apparently a lot more interesting than the actual movie.
