Two Hawaii'n men with Nuclear Physics backgrounds, file lawsuit to stop creation of Atom Smasher. Claim it could lead to giant blackhole which could consume the Earth.

Sounds fun. Hopefully they're wrong.

Wagner's own background is a bit fuzzy. He claims to have minored in physics at U.C. Berkeley, gone to law school, taught elementary-school science and worked in nuclear medicine at health facilities — but he doesn't appear to have an advanced degree in science.

Sancho's qualifications are even murkier, but the lawsuit identifies him as a Spanish citizen residing in the U.S., even if his presence makes the entire case a bit, um, quixotic.

To be honest... it actually looked at the issue and presented a good deal of information that is helpful, especially information that refuted the claims of the suing party. I don't think you can bash Fox News for this one, and lord knows how much I love bashing Fox News.

Yep i've known about this for a good 2 years now. The thing that most people are worried about is the giant black hole but those involved in the project say that the worst that could happen is a micro black hole which would fizzle out and dissipate. They also claim that the stresses from the particle acellerator are basically the same thing we get bombarded with on a daily basis from the sun.

I've interned with people involved in the project. There are absolutely no concerns about something like that happening from those involved.

I would just be fine with how splitting an atom can have that much energy. I love talking about this kind of stuff. Something like this in the future is what will doom us the world blowing up.
