I think Morrison recognizes the success of the album and the accomplishments of the great songs on there because none of the songs he listed are really any of my favorites and I have to admit some of them do sound very similar. Now, I'm definitely not taking up for the guy or agreeing with his main point that The Clash were a singles band.
I don't get the whole "Clash were a singles band". Are they not supposed to release singles? It just sounds like he didn't listen to many of their albums, it may not be the case but that's what it sounds like.

I don't think he was hating on the fact that they released singles, but in his mind he thought there was a wide margin of quality between the singles and the non-singles on their albums.

He's certainly entitled to his opinions, but as far as I know the band had no control over what singles got released. To hold that against the band is dumb. They're best stuff was what they sent to the radio for people to hear is essentially what he is saying. That doesn't make any sense to me either. I really don't understand it.

Don't know if they're my favorites of all-time, but they definitely influenced me in one way or another.

Cameras or guns, one of them is gonna shoot me to death.
