WOW, What a Diference.....My SONY SXRD....
Here it goes guys, I have owned my Sony for over a year now. I have set my TV settings up my self and thought I had a great picture, until yesterday, I set my TV to standard and then change the settings to my liking, It looked good, well so In thought. I was playing MLB the show last night and I switched my settings fro the standard mode and switched it to VIVID and fixed some of teh settings and man I have been gaming with such a dull screen setup, I'm on Vivid right now and I so shocked on how much better it looks, I have been ripping myself off, with the settings I was using.
My question is what settings do some of you guys got you TV set to.N.Y Mets

If I'm not mistaken, VIVID is also known as "Torch Mode".
The Samsung DLP I have has a setting like this called "Dynamic". I've always been told to never use this setting as it lessens the bulb life and doesn't present an accurate representation of the picture (basically it just makes everything brighter and hurts detail/shadowing etc...). I discussed this with Chad B (professional calibrator who did my TV) and he echoed those comments.
Do a google search for vivid + torch mode and you'll see a lot of threads about this. -

FF just like mjb2124 said. Take your TV out of "VIVID" Mode. Not only could it damage your screen, it's gonna cause your bulb to go out sooner than it should. Find yourself a good Test Pattern DVD & go DIY or check-out AVS for some settings.Comment

I will just set it back to the standard mode I had setup, but why put Vivid mode on the set if you can't use it?N.Y Mets

I don't know about this particular mode, but they generally use the super-bright settings for store displays, etc. They want to set certain TVs apart from the others, so you'll see some darker (the cheaper ones) and others all bright (expensive) to draw your attention. Most of the time, you can tweak with the cheap TV and make it look better than the expensive one once you get it home. But yeah, factory settings on TVs are almost always geared towards store display.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment
