    Re: The Arrested Development Thread

I should have given this show more of a chance.

I picked up where I left off a few years ago (episode 2). I'm currently at episode 14 on Netflix.

I'm now on the 8th episode of Season 2 (Queen for a Day). This show has had me on the floor many times, but it also has some heart which really surprised me.

I was pleased that Netflix has expanded it's Season 2 from 9 episodes to the entire season (18).

Wonder if the movie will come out before the end of the year?

Honestly I've stopped hoping for an AD movie. It's so "on-again-off-again" that I couldn't take the constant heartbreak I'd get from it. If it becomes reality then I'll rejoice with a frozen banana but until then the three seasons will have to do.

Was the season 3 finale written as a series finale? I mean did they write it as an ending to the series?

It ties up everything incredibly well, I think.

I think they knew they were being cancelled like halfway through season 3 and wrote a proper finale.

I'm not really sure if this is a spoiler, but you never can be too safe around here.

I actually started watching this show on Netflix a few weeks ago and I loved it so much I've watched the entire series twice so far. I love the fact that it mixes the humor with some heartfelt stuff like JayBee said. It is now one of my all-time favorite shows. I, like everyone else, hopes the movie does come to fruition because I would love to see what they would do with the story.

                  Re: The Arrested Development Thread

I really missed the boat on this. Here is an earlier post of mine just shy of three years ago.

Not hating on Arrested Development-I realize there are many fans of the show-I wasn't one of them. I was watching a rerun of the TV show Blind Date and the "Therapist Joe" info script read "Sex is like that TV show "Arrested Development"-Mostly over-rated, but when it's good:yowza!"

I realized I had watched only 1 episode and part of the second. I must have been distracted because I don't get why I didn't become a fan immediately. Morale of the story-you have to give a series at least two or three episodes.

Obviously the Blind Date writers were either jealous or didn't watch many episodes either.

Mine too. I wonder if it's popular enough to be hugely successful as a movie?

Actually, Mitch Hurwitz (the creator) wanted it to end there. They had a chance to continue the show on some other network (Showtime I believe), but Hurwitz refused.

This is from Wikipedia so it's not 100%:

In the show's third and final season, Hurwitz tried to keep Arrested Development on the air, but did not have the advertising funding to promote the series. The show was again cut down, from 22 episodes to 13.

I thought the 13 episodes Netflix provides for Season 3 was an abbreviated season, but I just learned otherwise.

Given Fox's possible cancellation(edited) of the show some satirical references were made to Showtime and HBO picking up the series in the first episode of Season 3. I don't know how that was interwoven in the plot, because I'm not at Season 3 yet.
