My wife and i have been married for 5 years next month and have been together for appox. 13 years. 12 years ago i nipped that request in the bud, and it has never been an issue since.

1. What was her response when she first asked you. Basically run the scene back if you remember.

2. What is YOUR reasoning why you don't hold purses?

1. I got a dirty look . So i gave her an even dirtier look and said, no! im not gonna do it! She said ok and hasnt brought it up since.

2. If she didnt want to carry it, she shouldnt have brought it. There are a few other reasons as well. First, my mom told me to never carry a women's purse. Second, their is the issue of control. I think women try to play control games out in public to show other women that they have their guys in check. Third, %**! is not just manlike. Men holding onto purses is hella gay, IMO. But thats me, to each his own.

I disagree; Relationships (Friendship or Romantic) are Give & Take...Sure you do things you would rather not want to, but that's what you do for people you care about.

Oh, and I'd hold the purse... I'm pretty sure I did for my ex back when we were dating.

It's no big deal. I'm not fazed by the whole "it's gay, dude" thing. Did you ever play sports? I've shared the same lockerroom and shower with about 40 guys on the football team in high school... can't get much "gayer" than that. I'm comfortable with my sexuality.

You do things like that for the person you care about. I don't care if she's "showing other women that she has control" or whatever. If she asked me to hold her purse, I'd do it because I'd want to be of some assistance to her. Just like I'd expect her to want to hold something of mine if I needed to run in the bathroom or try on a jacket or something.

Hell, I'd have bought her tampoons if she ever asked me... I don't care.

i mean why can't she set it on the floor or something? if the situation was reversed and i wanted her to hold something for me while i tried on a jacket i doubt she would do it.

thats whats funny about this situation, people expect you to hold the door for a woman, pay the dinner bill, or push out their chair, or when seats are filled get up and let them sit down, but they don't expect a woman to do the same for men. why?
