cleveland and phily are 1-2. seattle i would say trails, barely, and goes to 3. they are having their basketball team and only franchise with a championship STOLEN from them unjustly and david stern doesn't just look the other way, he aids the process. Atlanta has had some bad teams, but they at least won 1 championship in the past 15 years. if you had a championship in the past 15 years you have no business on this list, unless something like what is happening in seattle was happening in your city. but seattle also hasn't won in well over 15 years.

Sitting pretty as the 1 seed in the West? Plus you have to have 3 of the 4 major sports to be considered a sports city. When New Orleans picks up an MLB or NHL team they will be a sports city.Comment

Re: Forbes ranks the 10 most miserable Sports cities.
Sorry but if you have teams in all of the major professional leagues, not sure if you have as much to be miserable over as a city with only 1-3 teams and NO championships. At least philly and cleveland have won somethingComment

Re: Forbes ranks the 10 most miserable Sports cities.
25 years without a championship isn't THAT long compared to other cities/teams, but when you consider that every major team in Philadelphia has reached the championship/finals in their respective sports since then (Eagles in 2004, Sixers in 2001, Flyers in 1997, 1987 and 1985, Phillies in 1993), but they've all lost, Philly has definitely been suffering for a while.Last edited by Psyblast; 04-11-2008, 01:15 PM.Comment

Re: Forbes ranks the 10 most miserable Sports cities.
Remember also that Philly is in the top 4-5 biggest cities in the country. NY, L.A. and Chicago have won in the 90s and so on. Philly, meanwhile....blah.
We have the losingest team EVER in the Phillies.
Sixers are prestigious, but haven't won since my third birthday.
Flyers are great. But they're like the Braves...always contend, but don't bring it home.
And the Eagles. Well, they're the Eagles.
Bad owners all around except for Ed Snider of the Flyers. Leonard Tose, a known gambler, almost sold the Eagles and moved them to Phoenix in the '80s. Sixers almost got moved to Camden until Snider got the Corestates Center built. And the Phillies are owned by a group of people who never want to spend money. Bill Giles, when he was the speaker of the owners, once said Philadelphia is a small market cityComment

Re: Forbes ranks the 10 most miserable Sports cities.
I don't know how Seattle isn't #1.
The Mariners still without an AL pennant. Started off with 15 consecutive losing seasons. They traded away Jason Varitek and Derek Lowe for Heathcliff Slocum for god's sake! We had to suffer through numerous seasons of BOBBY AYALA as our closer!!! Wasted teams that were absolutely stacked including future HOF'ers in Randy Johnson, Alex Rodriguez, Ken Griffey Jr, Edgar Martinez. The '95 team also included Tino Martinez, Vince Coleman, Joey Cora, Dan Wilson, Chris Bosio, Andy Benes, Norm Charlton, Mike Blowers, etc.
The Sonics have 1 championship in 40 years. The 1994 team was the best in the league and lost in the first f'n round to the #8 Denver Nuggets. Damn you Van Exel and Motumbo!
The Seahawks have been Seattle's best franchise and they've never won a Super Bowl in 31 years. They've only been to one. They even suffered through an entire season with Stan Gelbaugh as the starting quarterback in '92. STAN GELBAUGH.
The Pilots were in Seattle for a year. The Sonics are leaving no later than 2010 thanks to David Stern and Clay Bennett being Circle Jerk Pals. There's no facility in the area that can hold an NHL team due to the "renovation" of Key Arena in the mid 90's that eliminated it as a hockey/basketball facility. Key Arena isn't good enough for the NBA, but the city of Seattle isn't going to spend $100 million to renovate it every 10 years so we're stuck with that POS. And the national media, and national fanbase for that matter, couldn't care less about Seattle.Last edited by Coug00; 04-12-2008, 12:26 AM.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment
