    Wireless Router/Network Advice

To set this up, my internet connection suddenly died on me Tuesday night. I have a Westell model 6100 modem through Verizon DSL and the internet indicator light was off. I restarted, check all the connects, etc and internet still down. Today my brother called Verizon and at first they told him it was the PC's internet card, but after that he hooked the modem directly up to the PC and the internet is working good now (the internet indicator light is still off, though) - so the obvious conclusion is that something happened with my router.

The router I have is a Linksys Wireless-G model WRT54G. I set it up when I got my launch Nintendo Wii, so its been well-over a year since I've had it. Anyway, I'm wondering if its normal for a router to just die, what other problem(s) it could be and of course recommendations for a new router. Without a wireless network, I have no XBL and no XBL means no CoD4 and I need my CoD4.

Anyway, as always, any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you typed in your IP in the web browser and log in as admin to check out your settings? Usually disconnecting and reconnecting fixes my issues.

If you are using DSL you will need to put the modem in bridged mode and put the PPPoe settings in your Linksys. You will need to get your username and password for the PPPoe settings from your ISP.

Not to hijack your thread, but I was going to thread similar to this one.

I have been playing COD4 online tonight and had complaints about lag, and when I had previously played games online I had some lag issues.

I quickly hopped outta the room because I hate when people continue to play when they are lagging, but anyway, I have a wireless Netgear router that feeds to my laptop and my roommates laptop on wifi. I have it directly connected to my xbox from the router but it seems that I'm still having major lag issues.

I have the best possible connection that charter offers, is this just an issue I am going to have to live with? Or is their a way to fix it?

I'm not sure whats up because I thought I needed to have a router and unless I'm on somebody elses network I'm able to get on XBL. So...not really sure whats going on now.

I think we had to do something like this when hooking our Netgear router up.
