    My New Musical Addiction: Sia

I don't even know where to start. I'm completely in love with this woman musically. I arrived late on the scene to her music, but I'm thankful that I did. She got her first big break by having "Breathe Me" play on the series finale of Six Feet Under but until about late last year I didn't know much about her and my ex-roommate informed me about her. I downloaded her album and put it to the side not really thinking much about it until one day I finally decided to get it a listen.

Some People Have Real Problems is that truth. Period. Sia's music is unique but it's her vocals that truly captivates me. She reminds me of Amy Winehouse (except better) mixed with Jewel with a touch of soul thrown in there.

I also saw her in concert a month ago in Texas at the House of the Blues and the live performance was absolutely unreal.

That's one of the good things about Pandora, you get introduced to a lot of artists that you might never hear of otherwise. Her songs always come up when I'm listening to some of my stations like Aimee Mann, Anna Nalick, or Rachel Yamagata.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Here's your girl Sia singing the live version of "Destiny," a killer tune by Zero 7:

I'm in love with YouTube right now. Like more so than usual. I was able to find the performance of "Death by Chocolate" by Sia at the same show I was at in Dallas (March 08). I didn't think I would be able to relive that experience again, but I got lucky. It was truly amazing.

I love that version of "Destiny". Good lookin' for posting it. She did her thing last night on probably her biggest stage thus far. She sang "Soon We'll Be Found" on David Letterman. Completely ripped it per usual.

Her album is alright but I like her stuff with Zero 7 much better.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Very cool stuff...thanks for making me aware of it...

The music, the vocal delivery and vibe kinda reminded me of the nightclubby French chanteuses of the 50's, 60's and 70's...

Intriguing, so what does one get out of this type of music?

The song "Waiting to Die" is a classic. Samething with Waiting Line which is a zero 7 song.

This type of music just does not have enough emotion for me. But I would take a chick to see this style of music live.
