Re: Video: Guy Uses Lighter To Look Inside Of Gas Tanker
So are they saying it's an urban legend? I could easily believe that when a cell phone rings there are tiny electric pulses that could set off a vapor field of gasoline. Not sure about when fueling your car, but in a situation like that video there could be enough gas in the air to spark.- The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.Comment

Re: Video: Guy Uses Lighter To Look Inside Of Gas Tanker
Mythbusters to the rescue
Myth:
Using one's cell phone while pumping gas/petrol can cause an explosion.
Status:
Busted
Notes:
A properly-working cell phone poses almost no danger of igniting gasoline, even when surrounded by gasoline vapor with the optimum fuel-air mix for ignition. The actual risk comes from an electrostatic discharge between a charged driver and the car, often a result of continually getting into and out of the vehicle.Comment
