I would have at least 1 GB in memory and definitely increase the HDD amount.

Make sure you can upgrade the memory because 512MB with Vista is a joke unfortunatly. I have a laptop with 1GB and Vista and at times it slows down for no reason and I only use it for internet and office programs.

For your needs: yes
For gaming: no

I would suggest memory upgrade to 1gb or installing the operating system XP. Good luck.
