Anyone know any movies that are rated up to pg-13, that are about military and political power over the world? (no political arguments here, just looking for a movie for particular reasons). For example, do any of you know any movies about a country using military power to rule over and take over other countries?

Not sure if I can think of any like that, but Seven Days in May (1964) (http://imdb.com/title/tt0058576/) starring Kirk Douglas and Burt Lancaster was about an attempted coup in the US."We were expecting a miracle with Elite, but instead we got Jesus at halfcourt."

These are two of the greatest documentaries I have ever seen in regards to political climate
and reasons for war...Not sure if thats what you're lookin for but definitely check 'em out.Comment

There aren't that many movies that actually look at world domination but rather more of the psychological aspect of war and the folly of personal power over people.
BTW I can heartily second the nomination of Seven Days in May. In my mind it's probably the best acting job of Burt Lancaster's career.
Anyways here are a few movies of interest.
The Great Dictator 1940 - Shows the folly of fascism and is most famous for Chaplin's first words ever on film which was an impassioned plea against war.
Path To War 2002 - About the internal struggle that LBJ went through sending young men and women off to war in Vietnam, a war that he in his heart knew was a losing battle. One of the better cable movies i've ever seen and I believe it's also the last film John Frankenheimer ever directed.
The Last King of Scotland 2006 - A very good (abelt slightly fictionalized) look at the control and power that Idi Amin had and how he welded it to his advantage. It's quite good and shows how dictatorships are like in third world nations.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Robert McNamara had a documentary (might have been mentioned above) about Vietnam. McNamara was Sec. of Defense at the time.Comment

Yep, Fog of War, very good documentary but some of it is clearly revisionist as Mac tried to make himself look a little better then he actually was. He played a huge role in getting LBJ to escalate the war.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Fog of War is an excellent documentary as others have said. I think we've watched that in 3 of my classes in college.
We also watched Why We Fight. I didn't think it was as good, but I'd still recommend it for the subject I think you're looking at.Comment
