They have to offer all these things. The reason is so you don't leave the building. You work long hours every day. I know a few people who are working at Google, they don't work for them though, but most of them are looking to leave and go some where else.

It's the same thing at Electronic Arts, I remember going to their Facility in Burnaby BC and thinking this must be a great company to work for. They've got everything there, from a fitness center, games room, 24 hour cafeteria, basketball/baseball/football courts...but it's all an illusion. Developers and programmers work LONG hours, close to 80 hours a week and they are all stressed out.

Reminds me of Nike in some ways, they have the same large cafeteria, formal resteraunt, dry cleaning, a hair salon, a small grocery store, all on campus and its thanks to them expecting their employees to nearly live there. I couldnt count the amount of offices there that had a nice couch in it that was used frequently to either sleep overnight on or take a nap in the middle of the day on. Nice perks working for them but thats about it imo.

No thanks. I'd rather working 9 hours at an "average" company (like I do most of the time) with a standard salary, than being a slave. Slavery is slavery, no mather what the place looks like.

I just started working for a new company and im like flipping out from all the perks like free everything. they have like a room kept full of coffee soda,food, they buy lunch twice a week, dinner sometimes. i get basically anything i need from an office standpoint, its crazy.we got flat screen plasmas thoughout our office, the secretary does nearly everything i need. i just got out of the army so everything is a lot better for me where its average or normal for regular people but its weird having a company drop money on you like mine is .when i was working for the gov't i was a slave and lucky to get paper to print something out.
