Quick question about getting a "Smart Phone"

I'm looking into getting a new phone, and I had my eye set on something that has a full keyboard, and gives me the ability to do some internetting (specifically e-mail) while I'm bored.

I'm with AT&T, but the iPhone is a little out of my price range. I do, however, like the Tilt ($150 refurbished online), and was planning on getting the unlimited data plan with it.

    Here's my question though:

What kind of internet options am I really going to have? Is it comparable to that of the iPhone? Can I watch any videos and stuff on it? More importantly, can I check my third-party e-mail (e-mail address through school)?

    Thanks.

you just really need to check with each phone's plan. i got a blackjack and for some reason they consider it a pda and not a smartphone. the data plans for the blackjacks are alot more expensive. if you do get a data plan, and can afford it, get the unlimited data.

i've had a smartphone for 3 years now and i'll never go back do a "dumb" phone.

I have a Blackjack II and it lets me check my email and use the internet.

I can stream some videos but it seems to be very selective on what it will stream.

But like joshuar said, if you plan to use it then get the unlimited data usage. Going to a site like youtube (or anything with video) will take up a lot of data and you'll find yourself buried deep in high charges.

And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Thanks for the replies, fellas. I'm probably not going to go with a Smart Phone in the end. It's just too much phone for me and I really don't need it. It's also very impracticle for me as I keep my phone in my front pocket and, for some reason, can't keep a grasp on it when it's in my hands.

I'm going to probably end up going with a slider. I like the new MotoZ9. The LG Shine looks tight too.

If your going with an AT&T slider I say go with the Sony Ericsson W580i. It has some issues such as they keys, but mine is tough. I have dropped it plenty of times and it is still solid. Even one time my friend knocked it out of my hand and if fell in a campfire and its still running good.

He says it's cheap and the features are terrible. He was telling me that the way the slider mechanism is, it WILL break. Not a matter of "if" it will break, just "when" will it break.
