Red Sparkles on a Plasma

On a black screen on my toshiba plasma, I get these red splotchy sparkles on parts of the screen. I haven't had the tv long so I don't know if this is normal. I had a rear projection big screen and never noticed this.

Anyone know anything about this? Thanks.

Snuck in an episode of Cathouse Friday night(that might explain the retention problem) after everyone went to bed, regular HD programming, and I have my PS3 hooked to it.

Not quite sure what image retention is.
