AVG 8.0 Free antivirus released

I downloaded it a couple days ago. Seems to run just fine, but so did 7.5.

Ya, I'm not going to fix what ain't broken. As long as 7.5 can stay active with virus def. updates, I'll stay with it. If I were a new AVG user, I'd go with 8.0.

Wait you don't have to buy it? I ask because when I click the banner rather then the actual download link it says "download and buy for 9.99". So is it really free?

You should be able to get the free edition here, i looked around the site too and couldn't find the free version either.

Yeah I eventually found the download link which took me to download.com as well.

EDIT: Sheesh I had a hard time with that download.com link. It seems the file is corrupted there. I found another site where I got the download to work though.

I like AVG, but It's FREE, and it doesn't protect all virus that why I get a little nervous keeping it. I use Zone Alarm security suite, full.

I have the free AVG on my home PC and my laptop, but my company now offers employees free McAfee antivirus protection, so I'll probably take advantage of that.

I would still stick with AVG.
