I didn't think it was as good as I thought it was going to be. I didn't get scared at all.

Too much tension with too little pay off IMO, some people like that but I don't.

I liked it for the most part but the ending was "eh" I agree with the above poster as far as the build up, but little pay off. I still enjoyed it though.

Agreed with the above. I thought the movie was a tad intense and interesting enough to keep me watching on the edge of my seat. The ending, however, was extremely weak.

Horrible movie and I laugh at anyone who thinks it was anything other than awful.

Start laughing, sir. This was one of the first horror movies since The Ring that took itself maturely.

Love the movie, and I absolutely love the ending (minus the "second" part of the ending when the kids go back inside).

Had they just ended it then, it would've been an amazing ending. There's no "the good guy gets super-powers and starts fighting back" or feel good ending. It's gritty, it's real and it would absolutely suck if that happened to you. They toy with them throughout the entire night and then...well, then it just ends. I thought it was perfect.

Definitely not, I had extremely high hopes going in and it was pretty blah, entertaining enough to where I didn't regret seeing it but just wasn't what I hoped it would be.

Lol, I loved Michael J Fox as the cameraman. The entire screen kept shaking uncontrollably like a handcam the entire movie. It wasn't those poor attempts at making it a nervous film, but genuinelly horrible camera work. I felt like I was watching the Blair witch project when they zoomed up on Liv Tyler's face in the beginning. The dude should have taken some diazepam Solid Snake style......or used a tripod. The movie was just bizarre, no coherent sequencing to it, bad acting (can't stand the mushmouth low talker known as Liv Tyler), bizarre tone, and in no way was it even decent, it falls into the same category as the rest of the horrid 21st century horror films. I just saw 30 days of night a few hours ago, now that is how a horror film should be.

As gritty as it was, i felt as if it was a bit too unrealistic at certain points. The couple never really fought back. I mean, personally if i was in a situation like that; the time would come where you would have to stand firm and fight.

I know the boy friend, went out with the shotty in one scene, and that felt real; but the lady never even put up a fight. I didn't care that it had a real heart wrenching ending, i would of loved to see them actually do something more than just run and hide when they knew the "strangers" were nothing more but psycho's wearing masks.

That film is in another stratosphere, though. We're talking a great concept and story that was relevant well-before it even hit the big screen.

The Strangers wasn't trying to be 30 Days of Night. It was trying to terrorize psychologically.

This argument holds true for any horror or terror film.

At one point in the film, Liv's character locks the door after being spooked. I laughed because why wasn't the freaking door locked in the first place?

But, I've come to accept that with horror/terror films, a lot of logic is getting thrown out the window. Logic leads to a very short film where no one dies.

Here's another situation. Her mobile phone is supposedly dead. She goes to charge it. Maybe, it's just my amazing phone designed by Samsung, but who in the world can't use their phone while it's charging? She could have called 911 right then and there. But, if she did the movie would have been over in 15 minutes.

Anyway, I don't think anyone here that enjoyed the film enjoyed it because it was amazingly realistic. I doubt anyone believes it was. But, we wanted to watch a film that terrorizes and once you understand what that requires within horror concepts, you just sit back and try to enjoy.

Heck, even 30 Day of Night, as great as it was, stretched it's plot when it could to achieve it's desired outcome.
