About a guy (Albert Brooks) who dies young and ends up in Judgment City, a purgatory of sorts between Earth and the next step in the universe. The basic criteria for moving ON(further in the universe) is demonstrations of courage, although it is more mildly referred to as "ability to handle fear". If you don't move on you are sent back to earth.The setup is your basic defense attorney and prosecutor although they are not called that. Two judges will determine Brook's fate. Several "replays" of his past life are shown as 3D evidence. Rip Torn (Brook's attorney) and Brooks are hilarious.

One of the best movies most people haven't even heard about. Sappy ending tho.

When I was a kid this movie was on HBO all of the time. My mom and I hated it because it would be on every day in the summer. I wonder if I would appreciate it more as an adult.

I love Albert Brooks and this is a Top Ten movie for me. I have never seen such an hilarious understated comedic performance in a movie. Weeds fans, look forward to him playing Nancy's estranged father- in- law for Season 4 starting a 13 episode run June 16th.
