DC was ****ing crazy. There were no bad acts at all.

My top of the night (in no particular order):
    Nas
    Tribe
    De La
    Rakim
    Mos Def

He didn't seem to be doin anything wierd to me, he just wanted us to sing the lyrics. He did have a big bottle of beer or somethin with him onstage tho

I dont know man. He was drinking on stage, only sang half his lyrics and seemed out of breath after his first two songs. I saw him perform at Love a year ago and his set was much tighter.

I didn't notice it tbh. Maybe from all the weed being smoked around me adn how loud I was singing all the songs. De La got me excited, Mos Def kept me goin, Nas got me crazy, and ATCQ finished me off. My ears rang all day today.

Not to mention how nice supernatural was on the freestyle subbing for Wale

I'll tell you why you didnt notice it. Its cause Nas has so many hits that people didnt really pay attention to the performance. One of my friends was so amped to see him he didnt notice it either. Ive seen him in concert 3 times and this was maybe the worst performance ive seen from him. With that said, the entire show was great.

Wow, I guess Nas doesn't like DC much. LOL

When he came to the stage in Toronto, his first seven tracks were ALL off Illmatic!!!!!

His introduction to the stage was sick, they played the halftime instrumental for about 5 minutes and everyone in the designated smoking area, drinking posts and bathrooms were all just RUNNING towards the stage.

Mos Def was my favorite act on the bill.

Aholbert or anyone else who went, what time did you guys get there? A 12 hour show, man I dunno if I can sit through all that even if I'm messed up. What time did the bigwigs start performing? I was planning on getting there between 2 and 3pm.

Get there at 2:30 but check the set times by going to the Rock the Bells website. If you dont care about Wale or Jay Electronica, 2:30 is good because Rakim comes on at 3.

Re: Rock The Bells '08: anyone going?

The NY show was pretty good today.

Nas followed by Red & Meth were the two best performers. Red and Meth really got the crowd involved and were funny as hell. De La Soul was pretty good too and had a lot of crowd support.

The were some pretty damn good guests; Black Sheep, EPMD, Slick Rick, Talib Kweli, Biz Markie, and the biggest was Jay-Z who came out to do Black Republicans w. Nas.

Overall the crowd was actually pretty weak, probably because it was hot as balls out combined w. the fact that the venue didn't sell beer led to a tame crowd. Even more pathetic was that the place wasn't even sold out, probably 1,000 seats or so empty which is awful considering the lineup that was performing and it was in NY. Plus there were security guards everywhere so people didn't really start smoking until it got dark around 8:30 or so.

Overall it was a good time though.

Damn spoiled NYers are used to getting all the hot concerts for free. I got my boy texting me every other weekend about some insane concert that just happens to be at the park, lol.

Sweet, my friend scored me a free ticket to the Denver show tomorrow. Really looking forward to Nas (if he actually puts on a show ha), Rakim, Tribe, Meth/Red (is it 1999?!), Pharsyde, and Ghost/Rae the most.

I just saw De La Soul at the Paid Dues Tour with Scratch, Supernat and a lot of the other acts -- put on a great show for being a bunch of older dudes with nothing left to prove. Supernat and Scratch put on probably the most entertaining/impressive hip-hop show I've been to in a while -- great set, and I'm definitely checking them out tomorrow again just to see what else Supernat raps about randomly.
