For some reason I never really got that feeling from him. Avon never seemed like one to snatch a life without a thought process and him taking the life of a washed solider AFTER serving 14 years would have been Stringer level of poor decisions. Plus, I felt like Avon always respected when somebody spoke honestly and openly with him.
Cutty was the antithesis of Stringer this season. He was open, honest, and once he realized the game don't change he decided to change himself. Stringer was a man without a country or code. Him trying to get Slim Charles to assassinate Clay Davis was everything about him in one scene.
We'll see about season 4, though. Season 3 is about as perfect as any TV series has gotten for me.
Also, I love how the show is basically mapped out from Herc & Carver's conversation in the first episode by following the **** flow up hill. Starting the season with the majors being **** on by chain of command and then end the season with COC being **** on by the politicians was a great pivot to setup season 4.
