Yeah - season 5 always seemed a bit more "out there" to me considering what McNulty, Templeton, and eventually Lester get involved with. Still a lot of classic scenes (particularly the FBI profilers lol) and continuing to follow the kids ("new class") from season 4 was great.

Re: Ok im late I know, The Wire
The whole Marlo/Prop Joe scenario, one thing I haven't been able to figure out. How did Marlo know to look for the Russian to get to the Greek? I know he sent Chris to the courthouse to get records, but how did he know anything about the Russian to begin with?Comment

I could be wrong but I THINK it was Avon who introduced them when he went to the Prison to see him.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: Ok im late I know, The Wire
Marlo goes to the prison to see Sergei but Avon comes out instead. Avon tells Marlo he'll grant access to Sergei for $100K. Later, when Marlo goes back to the prison, Sergei is waiting with Avon in the background.
Prior to that, Chris goes to the courthouse with McNulty following him. McNulty sees that Chris was looking at Sergei's file. I was just curious how Marlo knew to look for Sergei. I'm sure it was explained somewhere and I just missed it.Comment

Re: Ok im late I know, The Wire
Prop Joe puts Marlo on to checking court records when they become public. I don’t think it’s explicitly shown or stated, but they likely did their research from the dead girls at the dock case and found a lead worth following up on in Sergei.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: Ok im late I know, The Wire
Finished it up tonight. Definitely going to rewatch the whole series again.
Season 5 to me is like that album that has a lot of great tracks on it, but the flow just isn't quite right. The other four seasons seem to flow better to me, although 1 and 2 lack some of the moments that 5 has.
The first four seasons were more grounded in reality, whereas Season 5 felt more like network TV to me with some of the liberties it takes. Everything from the serial killer storyline to Templeton to Omar's escape just felt too over-the-top. But there were also a lot of great moments too - McNulty with the profilers, Lester joining up with McNulty, watching Marlo set the pieces up for his takeover. And of course there was that one "Oh ****!" moment (like Omar, I never saw it coming).Comment

Ok im late I know, The Wire
Just bumping this to remind folks that Season 3 is probably the best television you’ll ever see from a series, with Season 4 a real close second, although I go back and forth on this everyday.
Started this up over the weekend but skipped to 3 and it’s amazing how much better each episode gets over the course of the season.Last edited by ProfessaPackMan; 04-26-2021, 06:14 PM.#RespectTheCultureComment
