If You Watch One Thing This Weekend, It Should Be This: Ninja Warrior 20

Ninja Warrior returns with another tournament this Sunday at 9 P.M. on G4.

For those of you who don't know what Ninja Warrior is, it is the worlds toughest obstacle course. Here is a video of the greatest competitor in the competition ever, Makoto Nagano.

    <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/dMRR_Mpf7nk&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/dMRR_Mpf7nk&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

When G4 airs the show, the crazy Japanese announcer is subtitled. As such, the 20th tournament has already aired in Japan (it takes time for G4 to do subtitling and dubbing). so...NO SPOILERS UNTIL AFTER THE TOURNAMENT AIRS on G4. You can post while you are watching, ala many of the other TV show threads, but do not post results until after those results happen.

Me too, which is why I can't wait for these new episodes. I hope the "Jumping Spider" is back, as that obstacle killed nearly everyone the last time. I love the wipe-outs, so that obstacle returning would be ideal.

HEh the announcers on this show are the best part about it. I love how it's always super-fast and excited Japanese with occasional "Engrish" thrown in. "Blahblahblah ajumping ahspider blahblahblah". And they get so excited, I love it. The contestants randomly dressed as things (especially exaggerated costumes revolving around their profession) are hilarious. I love that Mr. Octopus guy -- bad-*** old dude for sure.

Nagano is my boy! Shingo Yamamoto too. Yeah I've been anticipation the latest tourney, I wanna see how the guys chosen by G4 do. Neither of them made it through the 1st stage last time.

I Would also LOVE to have a shot at that course.

I would, too. How far do you think you'd get?

I don't think I could do the first stage cold. However, I think if I trained the way the G4 guys did for the last tournament I could make it through the first stage. Neither of them hit the trampoline right, and that's something I've noticed a lot of contestants fail to do. But beyond the first stage, no way could I go further. Not unless I trained year round like Nagano, Takeda, Yamamoto and co. And even then I might not be able to go further, as the Salmon ladder from the last one looks darn near impossible.

If I had a training course in my yard like Bunpei Shiratori and trained for a few months I could definitely get past the first stage (but I bet everyone says that). Those other stages are brutal, especially the third; like you said the Salmon Ladder is ridiculous.

It is brutal, and I think I'd do worse at Kunoichi (Women of Ninja Warrior) because that swinging balance beam and the domino hill are insane, which makes it really impressive that one person could win three times in a row, though I personally feel they should ban her and force to do the men's competition.

Yeah Ayako Miyake. Lol, that girl was killing the women's competition. I actually wondered the same thing if they would ban her. She made it look extremely easy, and made those other girls look pretty bad in the process. She didn't make that last one though surprisingly. Nagano does the same but at least he had a few failures before he finally beat the course.

The funny thing is, she went out on an obstacle she has done easily before. But the buzzer started, and I think she panicked. Because the third stage was the same as before, so she should have been able to get through it. The thing is, though, if they did ban her, she doesn't look strong enough to do stage three of the men's tournament. But since stage one (and most of stage two) is about agility, balance, and speed, I think she could clear those stages.

I have to say I was really impressed with Levi, the G4 contestant. He made it further than anyone in the competition, including Nagano! Looking at that first stage again, I take it back, I wouldn't be able to make it. My legs just can't stretch far enough to make it across the Jumping Spider. That's the sickest obstacle on the 1st stage to me. The second stage looks so much easier.
