    Best Intro (Music)

I was listening to a bunch of my music collection and started to look into how important a strong opening track is to the success of an album. Lets use this thread to bring attention to some of the opening tracks that we feel as though set the tone for an artists future, and give reason why we feel this way. (Also feel free to comment on a song someone else posted)

    obviously I'll start:

DMX - Its Dark and Hell is Hot - Intro
I couldn't find the one with the begining convo but hopefully you all remember.

I think this song is just too strong and powerful to NOT pay attention to him. I love the interview and the whole buildup....I still listen to it to this day if I need a boost especially before I go play ball or something.

Sidenote: I find it pretty sick he predicted he'd be the ish by '03 which he actually pulled off. 5th album straight to #1

Probably going to have to go with this one, "Blackened" by Metallica, to lead off their album "...And Justice For All".

Yes I know i'm biased but the title track "what's going on" set the perfect tone for what I consider the greatest album ever made. The party vibe at the beginning with the guys greeting each other then BAM! The alto sax kicks in and you're transported into one of the greatest protest songs ever. A song that protested Vietnam but offered Universal Love as the cure to man's ailments.

The great thing is that the songs bleed into each other. "What's going on" didn't have a definite end as it led into "what's happening brother" etc etc.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

I definitely agree with Blackened by Metallica

But I have one that you may or may not have heard before

The Road Home to Panther Creek by Maylene & The Sons of Disaster

The intro is just pretty sweet, its a fun one to actually play on the guitar also.

I don't have a clip and didn't find one on youtube, so If I find sometime i'll upload a video with the song.

When I read the title I thought it was talking about intros to songs, to which I would have said Sabbath's NIB, but opening tracks...

The Doors - Break On Through (To The Other Side) (The Doors)
The Rolling Stones - Sympathy for the Devil (Beggar's Banquet)
The Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter (Let It Bleed)
Muddy Waters - Mannish Boy (Hard Again)
The Beatles - Come Together (Abbey Road)
Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath (Black Sabbath)
GZA - Liquid Swords (Liquid Swords)
                            The Clash - London Calling
Drive-By Truckers - Where The Devil Don't Stay (Dirty South)
CCR - Green River (Green River)
                            Soundgarden - Rusty Cage (Badmotorfinger)
                            RATM - Bombtrack (RATM)
Violent Femmes - Blister in the Sun (Violent Femmes)
Temple of the Dog - Say Hello 2 Heaven
My Morning Jacket - At Dawn (At Dawn)
                            Radiohead - Airbag (OK Computer)
The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army (Elephant)
Wu-Tang Clan - Bring Da Ruckus (Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers))

and I have to definitely agree with SPTO on "What's Goin' On" by Marvin. That track is classic on its own, but with the rest of the album and the intro, its just perfect. That album is definitely one of the best ever.
