    Laptop Accessories

I recently bought myself a Dell laptop and was wondering what you guys think are necessary accessories? I have been looking at carrying cases, wireless mouses and lap desks if you guys have any suggestions.

All I use with my Dell is:

    carrying case
    mouse pad
wired mouse (or wireless mouse if that's your thing)

So yeah I guess I don't have many ideas for you but really that's all i've ever needed in my 3 years of using my laptop (actually it's my companie's not mine)

Anybody have any suggestions for speakers?

I bought the logitech V220 wireless laptop mouse last night, so far so good. I like the fact that the usb key stores underneath the mouse for travel/non use. I was looking at cases too, but didn't feel like paying 60 bucks for the one I liked, so I bought it off Amazon. I got this one.

Hey Fresh Tendrils, your thread inspired me so much I went ahead and ordered a Dell laptop today. They had one on sale for about $800 off when I combined my employee discount our company gets + their Memorial Day sale on laptops. XPS core duo, 4 gigs ram, 250gig hd, dvd, 15" hd screen, vista home premium, etc. Total cost was $1300.

Very nice. I hesitated on Vista and decided to stick with XP since the impressions on Vista haven't been the greatest.

This is what I got: Inspiron 1520 intel core duo, 4gb RAM, 320gb HD, 15.4 screen. Mine was about 975. Loving it so far.

That's awesome, it sounds like we got about the same system except I went with the XPS. Oh one thing I liked about the XPS was it had the Geforce 256mb 8600 so I can game some on the road.

In regards to Vista, I have it on my machine I bought in February and I love it. I think it's worlds better than XP both in functionality, in looks/appearance and in stability. This machine has yet to crash (knock on wood) since I bought it and Vista has run like a dream since day one for me.

I'm shopping now for laptop bags. I'm curious as to what you bought for yours?

The only extra accessory I have for my laptop is a wireless mouse by Logitech and a case.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

                  Same here, just a mouse.

gave away my bulky dell laptop bag. just use a regular backpack when i need to carry it with me.

Did you get the extended warranty? I'd suggest it if you have the money.

Dell will send someone out to fix any hardware problems you have. Always professional and very, very convient.

I'm down to 4 months left on my 3 year extended warranty. A coffin is coming for mine b/c it overheats. Dell is building me a new one.

I got the 3 year warranty on my XPS, it's standard at no extra cost for all employee discounts.

ODogg, I was looking at cases/bags when I bought my wireless mouse the other night. Circuit City, Staples and Office Depot all had the same stuff. I found a Targus bag I really liked, but I wasn't going to pay $60+ for it. Anyway, I ordered it off Amazon last night for about 15 bucks less than I saw in stores: link. It was really the only one I liked while I was looking since I didn't really like the other cases having the multimedia compartments on the outside as opposed to the inside like that one.

Well I got to see your post here a bit late, I bought a new bag yesterday. I got this INIT bag for $47 as it seems very sturdy, especially around the corners

That's pretty cool - I don't think I need one since all I will take mine is to school and on vacation where there should be a connection, but still might have to set that aside for future purposes.
