    He is no doubt a legend. If you put everything aside (his politics, sexual orientation, media spotlight), and just listen to the music, it can only be described by one word: beautiful. The guys songs are timeless and I think he's up there with Lennon (I prefer Lennon much more though!), and other great artists of the 60s and 70s.

      The 'classic phase' ran from 1970-1976, in which he cranked out ELEVEN albums in six years that all hold up...

      Most 'artists' today can't step up with two decent albums of songs of varying quality in that time period today...

      The quantity and quality of that stretch of his career is what helps make him a legend, IMO...

          Harmony is another great song of his. Off the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album.

          He's got so many great songs.

            Seen him twice...he is a great performer as well. Him and Billy together are outstanding.
