    First movie/music video/video game where you were blown away by the special effects?

    I had this discussion with my brother. He's about 9 years older than I am and basically says nobody gets wowed by special effects like they used to and I kinda agree with him. He showed me this video:

    and said that he could not believe the special effects in it. Remembers running home from school every day just to watch it.

    I would have to say the Matrix movie and playing the first Mortal Kombat in the arcade is pretty much the only time where I was wowed by special effects.

      The Jacksons Torture video was more scary to me but I was blown away when they had the guy put his hand in a giant eye ball and when he pulled it out the center of his hand had a eyeball in it. Hey I was a kid..but I would say Star Wars did it for me when I saw it as a kid.

          Jurassic Park.

          It was 1993. I was 16. First movie to come out in Dolby Surround Sound. To actually hear crashing trees behind you or Dinosaurs screeching next to you was incredible.

          And the lifelike computer graphics of the dinosaurs blew EVERYONE away.

                  movie: Toss up between Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park. I think I was more blown away by JP simply because I never thought we'd see "real" dinosaurs on film ever.

                  music video: I was and remain a guy who doesn't watch much music videos but I gotta say "Thriller" was pretty good in that dept.

                  video game: I've seen and played so many games that I really don't know. Actually wait I do know but it's gonna sound funny but Super Mario Brothers 3 wowed me. I think it was the whole jump from 16 bit to 32 bit that totally caught my attention. It didn't hurt that the game was getting shoved down our throats with constant commercials and the movie THE WIZARD.

                              Co-sign As a kid you read so much about Dinosaurs, so this was like going through a time machine. When T-rex came out I almost wet myself.

                                                  Couldn't believe how lifelike the CG was...blew me the hell away in theaters.

                                                          I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!
