    Re: The Music Thread

What does everybody think of 3/4s of Led Zeppelin possibly doing some more shows in the future? Plant's voice has dropped off quite a bit but Page seems like he can still hold his own on a majority of their songs. I think they should probably just stop after having all of these reincarnations of the band throughout the years. Their legacy is definitely near the top in music history as it stands right now and I don't want them to go the path of the Rolling Stones, who have gone on forever and I am tired of them.

Going to Kanye tonight. It's gonna be BANANAS. Rihanna, NERD and Lupe Fiasco are opening. Honestly, I may be more excited to be seeing Lupe than anyone else.

So I was watching MTV2 the other day for some random reason. I was embarrased to witness the jokes that were on the screen.

This **** can't be the direction music is going, can it?

Yea one of the songs was Rick Ross "Boss". The other "rap" songs were worse.

Yeah Kanye is a MUST SEE for anybody who loves a good concert. Young, old, hip hop fan or not. Its a beautiful experience IMHO he doesn't even need all the lights and smoke if it was just him and a backing band and DJ the show would be just as amazing. (but then it wouldn't be as universal, only hip hop heads would get enjoyment I think)

Almost all genres of music get ruined by TV and radio. You really can't base your musical taste by those outlets but if you have no choice you have to deal with what you get unfortunately. But my recommendation if you are going to watch any music videos try out the "sister" channels of MTV they play less pop-ish music and give some decent artists who haven't been tainted a shot at the next level and a few gems can be found. I can't really recommend anything on the radio as I haven't been able to find a station the doesn't play the BS in one way shape or form.

My rant was more on just how I couldn't believe I saw that on TV. I was sitting there saying "Is this guy seriously getting paid? He looks like a complete fool."

I have found my musical niche with UG rap and I love it. I just came above the surface a hot second and got slapped in the face with reality.

Yeah I totally understand but its hard to escape the mainstream, well maybe for me it is, due to the fact I deal with younger children who like this music and a company radio that plays most of it and often. I love the days I can be isolated in my office and bump something less abrasive to my ears.

Opeth is pretty good. Since were talking about growling. Which bands freak you guys out? For me it's Cannibal Corpse (Glen Benton is very odd with his personality and his growl sounds like it's ripping his throat out and Dying Fetus (The singers growl sounds so screwed up).

I don't care who you are, where you're from, your cultural backround, your musical peference. It does not matter. I don't care if you hate the guy, love the guy, don't even know who he is. It doesn't matter if you dispise his ego, hate his music, or even cringe whenever you hear his voice.

GO TO A KANYE WEST CONCERT. AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

I had bad seats. I grew impatient during Rihanna's opening, with all the screaming girls and bad music. I grew irratated as I watched tough guys fight over spilt beer.

When Kanye came on it was all worth it. AMAZING. I was blown away. My girfriend, who isn't even a Kanye or hip hop fan, was blown away.

Lupe Fiasco and NERD opening as well was also a plus. I have a major man crush on Lupe.

Back to the point, Kanye is a legend. His lyrics are subpar? His ego is too big? He's overated? **** IT. Dude is a visionary. He knows how to entertain. He knows how to put on a show. He knows how to give the people what they want. Go see him live. It'll change your entire perspective.
