That is a good point. I didn't even notice that the rat's blood hadn't hardened.

I'm still wondering how it managed to take out the jet though, because when they initially flew in with the helo there were no problems at all. My only guess is that the strain is evolving.

Yeah that has to be it. Also the helo traveled a much lower altitude and a much lower speed compared to the jet which should be it harder for the virus to enter.

It was also interesting how it just started going through the mechanical parts of the plane and the pilot's visor.

For those of you whom have read the book, how does the movie compare?

So far I've really enjoyed the movie, so I might have to check out the book if it's just as good (if not better).

My friend who read the book said it is very good and more detailed. He says in the beginning of the book, the author goes into great detail on the virus. A lot of science talk which he said might seem more like reading a science book than a story in the beginning.

But he recommended reading it so I'll look into it as well.

Didn't you guys ever see the original movie? This is a remake of that. I didn't bother even watching it as the original is a classic.

Great film, and very true to the book, even though they changed a couple of things for brevity.

I totally forgot the new movie was on, but caught the very end of part 1 and was quite disappointed and unhappy with the direction they took the story. The whole Eric McCormack running around the base and the "terrorist attack"...WTF? And watching the final moments of the plane flight together with the scientists at the end of the episode...horrible.

The whole POINT of the novel was that the scientists were largely cut off from the outside world. In fact, their communications are snafu'ed so that they miss critical clues until it's almost too late. I DVRed the first part and I'll watch the whole thing eventually, but I'm not holding out hope.

Yeah, plus Entertainment Weekly gave this around a C...not bad, but the original is definitely a classic. The book's great too, helps that I like Crighton's writing.

For those who missed Part I last night, it's re-airing tonight at 7pmEST, followed by Part II at 9pm.

I might rewatch Part I, as a refresher course for Part II.

I've got both parts scheduled to record tonight so I can watch it later this week. I'm pretty sure I watched the original movie and liked it so I'm looking forward to seeing this new version!!!
