Re: Lil Wayne- Tha Carter 3

So what do you guys think about Wayne's comments "f*** mixtape DJs?"

personally I don't see why people are all up in arms over this. They say mixtape DJs made him, but that doesn't mean he can't be pissed at people taking all his songs THAT HE GIVES OUT FOR FREE and using them over and over and over on their unofficial mixtapes and profiting off them.

I think the people all mad about it are just the haters finding a reason to bash him.

Anyway, check this article over at HHDX....a mixtape DJ "Chuck T" is claiming responsibility for leaking the C3 because of Wayne's comments. Chuck said this.....

""Lil Wayne said '**** mixtape DJ's'...so now i'm about to show that boy the meaning of bootleg...I'll be damned if I let [anyone] get away with saying **** me without him facing some type of repercussions, including [him]." The deejay said, "Don't buy the new Lil Wayne album. Download it for free!"

I don't care that it leaked, but the pure ignorance to do it because of that has me pretty ticked off

That's Wayne being stupid and it's his fault, I don't blame the DJs for doing it. Don't forget that Wayne did not have an album between 2005 and now. The only reason he stayed hot was from his work with DJs and putting out a couple mixtapes. Remember, HE WORKED WITH THESE DJs. Then it was these other lesser-known/popular DJs that mixed some of his tracks and threw them on their album, still promoting him.

Let's be real, Wayne wouldn't have half his fanbase without DJs.

And supposedly the entire thing didn't leak, just 17 tracks or so.

With all the ridiculously stupid crap that is said by rappers these days, I just don't understand why he is catching so much heat for two sentences he said about mixtape DJs. It's been blown way out of proportion, if you actually listen to it he was just in a ticked off mood. He went on DJ Drama's show and explained his comments later and said he was really just venting about the Empire Records DJs.

Wayne would have the hype regardless of certain mixtape DJs using his stuff without his permission. He obviously wasn't (and said so later) talking about the guys he worked with to make some mixtapes. He is still the one who made all those songs and could have just put them on the internet himself if he wanted to and not allowed those DJs he wasn't working with to profit off his music.

It's just flat out ignorant to take his original statement and take it 100% seriously and be all mad about it.

And by the way he already had like 5 songs off his original Carter III album leaked last year and just made it into a mixtape called the Leak and started over on the album. Now he has to deal with some punk DJ who took offense to something for no reason and put Waynes music for free all over the internet. Dude has no business pulling that BS.

How is it ignorant to take his original statement seriously? He said it didn't he? All you other Lil Wayne stans take whatever bullcrap he puts out seriously. "Best rapper alive" only quoted by him and other stans.

And I can almost guarantee he wouldn't have the hype he does. The mixtape DJs kept his street fans while he hopped on every mainstream track made in 2007.

I don't see any other rapper going at mixtape djs for using their stuff. If anything it helps build publicity. It's not taking away from any of Wayne's record sales(it is now). It shouldn't even matter with the hype he has whether or not some DJ dropped a song by him on a tape. The songs aren't going anywhere else, they're not on any album, they're just put out there anyway to keep his name in conversations.

Wayne's last mixtape was the Drought 3. The Carter 3 was suppose to come out early-mid 2007. But DJs like "Evil Empire" started illegally leaking C3 tracks extremely early. And that's ****ed up on so many levels. People think Wayne 'oversaturated' the market when it was just him recording songs for the actual album (and the leftovers would be on a mixtape before the album came out) just like the majority of artists do. But since the hype is so large around Wayne, DJs do whatever it takes to get his music out before anyone else so they can get recognition.

The Drought 3 was an official mixtape, where Wayne rapped over popular beats just like you do on mixtapes. The first Carter 3 Sessions by DJ Evil Empire had ORIGINAL songs on it, including one produced by Kanye. There was no reason for Wayne to even want those songs out yet, especially since some were album quality. This goes the same for the second Carter 3 Sessions.

Dude didn't need any of those DJs to keep his hype meter up. Drought 3 had so much hype around it itself. Without those other mixtapes after it, Wayne would have released the album in 2007, and it most likely would have sounded a bit fresher.

But this is doesn't bother me as much though. Being that it's 2008, it's not necessary to have all your best songs on one CD. MP3 players pretty much make albums irrelevant.

EDIT: And if you took what Wayne said literally, like I said, it's obvious who he's referring to. and Chuck T is irrelevant:

I'm a Weezy fan. Carter 2 is great. Carter 1 is great. The Leak was solid. Like his mixtape stuff and Like Father, Like Son is awesome!

This album is GARBAGE!!!!! The production is stellar, but with Wayn'es messed up self on the tracks they are all horrible. People like shoot me down, tie my hands, and other tracks basically just because of production.

He's so messed up on the Purp that he can't rap about anything. Sounds ******** and just starts talking at the end of songs like an idiot.

I think 50's album is better then this crap and I hated 50's latest.

Get some Mannie Fresh Prodction, get some Birdman on there, and start rapping like normal and not a codeine covered moron.

Anyone who thinks this is 4/5 or better is just a Lil Wayne D-rider and needs to rethink why they like rap music.

Dr. Carter is my favorite song on this record .. he rides that Axelrod song like crazy. Mr. Carter is nice too of course... Tie My Hands and Misunderstood have great production. I like the album a lot.. I got this and Tha Carter (#1) and I like both despite never really listening to Weezy at all.

You know, Wayne's lyrics are elementary but you can't knock his delivery and swagger and that's what keeps him hot.

Co-Sign. Mr. West really held Wayne down on this album. Wayne had a lot of good producers in general though.
